Provides advice and recommendations to management to assist in technology directions, decisions and roadmap.
Performs research and analysis in server infrastructure technology to identify, propose and implement cost effective and practical technology solutions.
Engage and be part of the design team for the designated technologies and projects.
Provides 2nd and 3rd level of support in the designated areas.
Provides technical guidance, advice, and assistance to other members of the team when required.
Assist to set and maintains standards for the designated technologies.
Performs installations and upgrades of server operating systems, system software, system patches and hot fixes as required.
As required, provides day to day operations support and system administration tasks.
Responds to the assigned tickets, and resolve problems in the designated technology areas;
Conducts hardware and software audits and review of server infrastructure to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Develop and maintains technical documentation, diagrams and procedures for the designated technology areas.
Participates and is involved with the assigned disaster recovery and BCP tests.
Manage VMWare farm and storage platform to ensure optimal performance and capacity to support organic growth and new projects
Provide on-call support as scheduled
Required Experience
7+ years’ experience with Virtual, Network and Storage design and implementation
Cisco UCS setup and admin experience is an asset
Administration and configuration of VMware vSphere or similar virtualization technology such as Hyper-V and XenServer
Administration and knowledge of server operating systems such as Windows 2008/2012, Linux
Administration and configuration of backup/replication and disaster recovery solutions
Understanding of storage and network concepts (SAN, NAS, VLAN, WAN)
Server hardware installation and configuration
System management and troubleshooting experience
Education/Certifications
University Degree and/or related Technical Diplomas are encouraged
At least one of the following: MCSE, CCNA, and VCP and working towards higher certification
